a humble Ambigram page.


Ambigrams are a mischievous form of visual art that I dabbled in for a while.  The term 'ambigram', coined circa 1984, means a word or phrase that can be rotated or reflected while retaining meaning.  Some ambigrams are symmetrical, meaning that they remain the same when rotated or reflected, while others produce different words.  Good ambigram artists use digital tools, but my clumsy efforts were mostly just pencil and markers: you can see five examples below.  Click on an image to expand it.
