The Worst Sonnet Ever Written
Written in high school Shakespeare class, revised many years later.

Normal sonnets often iambs call for;
And yet trochees tongueward come more easeful.
Thus, illusions rise that some may fall for
Stinging like the spare end of a needle
If a poem should buck tradition too hard
See how it falls into some new furrow.
Stringing feet together like a true yard
Dug and fertilized by some stray burro.
Syllables misplaced may not jar truly;
Possibly they even may add flavor.
Ev'ry single syllable, however
Accented amiss will scar unduly.
Yet if such a poem be spoken sweetly
In this deed, you miss the point completely.
